Chapter 2

Creating & Editing Stratigraphic Logs

Define beds, select lithologies, insert customized symbols, and assign geologic ages.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Define Stratum Thickness Double-click in the main design editor to add a new stratigraphic bed. Set depth boundaries (top and bottom) in meters.
  2. Apply Lithology Patterns Choose from the standard library of limestone, dolomite, sandstone, shale, and coal vector textures. Scale texture mapping inside the inspector.
  3. Select Chronostratigraphic Age Assign official geologic periods from the built-in International Chronostratigraphic Chart (ICS 2024 database).
Chapter 3

Facies, Erosion Profiles & Sedimentology

Create visual weathering profiles, define grain size (Wentworth), and import wireline geophysical curves.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Adjust weathering weathering (Erosion) profile Drag control points on the right-hand boundary of the column to visually indicate weathering resistance (fine clay vs. hard limestone).
  2. Configure grain size columns Assign grain size categories from clay up to gravel to automatically position the bed boundaries.
  3. Import Wireline Curves Import geophysical logs (Gamma Ray, Neutron, Resistivity) from `.csv` files. Overlay curves on top of the stratigraphic columns.
Chapter 4

Exporting & Publishing Layouts

Export high-resolution geological diagrams for reports, publications, or GIS workflows.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Configure Layout Scales Set publication layout scaling (e.g. 1:100 or 1:500). Define page size and custom legend columns.
  2. Export to Vector SVG Select SVG output to preserve editable vector lines, textures, and layers in applications like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw.
  3. Export raw data Export project stratigraphic tables to standard CSV format for GIS integration or statistical calculation.
